The OMS2 linear sensor series is used in harsh environments where a robust, non-contact and flat sensor with a very long life is required in strokes from 50 to 1500 mm. The high performance in terms of EMC immunity makes the linear sensor suitable for use in industrial environments with the presence of electromagnetic interference.

The OMS2 series (OMS2 is the successor to the OMS series with significantly improved EMC compatibility) detects mechanical linear movements with a guided or free cursor. The position of the magnetic cursor is converted into a linear analogue signal without contact. The magnetostrictive measuring principle is true power-on. The free cursor tolerates mechanical offsets of up to ±2 mm in vertical and horizontal position. The ball-joint cursor compensates for vertical and horizontal misalignment. This enables applications where shock or vibration are critical. With no push rod and a flat design, the displacement sensor can be integrated to save space in applications that require a robust IP67 design and measurement from 50 to 1500 mm. The measurement principle is contactless, which gives the sensor a very long life. The displacement sensor is mounted overhead using clamps.
